Note: I first posted the O Antiphons (complete with Turvey Abbey banners) during Advent 2006. Thought it would be worth repeating them this year. As then, my hope is that Turvey Abbey will forgive the copyright infringement for the sake of the free advertising! Today’s banner is on sale here.

ERO CRAS, “I shall be there tomorrow”

John H December 24th, 2006

Journey to Bethlehem, banner by Turvey AbbeyThe seven “O”s, in reverse order (as can be seen from my previous posts here), make up the words ERO CRAS:

  • O Emmanuel
  • O Rex Gentium
  • O Oriens
  • O Clavis David
  • O Radix Jesse
  • O Adonai
  • O Sapientia

“Ero cras” loosely translates as “I shall be there tomorrow” – highly appropriate for the whole season of Advent, and especially so for Christmas Eve.
